Welcome

Welcome to the Mentorship in Professional Practice blog. Your module co-ordinators Jeannette, Trish and Helen hope that you find this blog a useful adjunct to your learning whilst you are on the course. The blog provides a forum for you to share ideas and experiences and to revisit and reflect on learning that has taken place both in the classroom and in practice.

This blog is designed to be very flexible and should be student led – in other words, it’s your blog. Like any other learning resource, you will only really feel the benefit from this blog if you actually use it! The sharing of your own views and personal experiences of mentorship are central to the success of this as a learning resource and contributions to the blog are actively encouraged.

This is the first time we have used a blog on any of our mentorship programmes. You are all pioneers in elearning! We look forward to sharing this learning journey with you all, and would welcome any ideas or suggestions you may have to further develop this blog. Please remeber that blogs can be accessed by anyone on the internet, so we strongly advise you to be aware of your professional responsibility with regards to confidentiality. There will be a formal evaluation of this blog at the end of the module, but we would prefer to have your comments whilst the module is on-going so we can address issues as they arise.

Happy blogging!

Helen, Jeannette and Trish

    Hi !
just thought i would drop a line to say how nice it was to meet you all on fiday and find out who is who in the group.

It seems like there is a massive amount of expertise within the group members . I hope we will find a number of ways of sharing this . My expectation is that i will come away from the experience a ‘richer’ person . This is of course reflective of the two way process in mentorship . The fantastic thing about working at this level is that everybody will have a different perspective on the issues that we intend to explore with you .

If you try the Blog dont be shy about posting a response – have a look at the links on the survival page and determine what relevence they have to the question ‘what is a mentor ‘ ?

    see you next tiome

    Hi everybody,
This is my 2nd visit to blog and I am enjoying the experience, hopefully I will soon dare leave some comments with deeper meaning and in relation to mentorship, for now just to let you know Jeanette and Helen that I have not received an email yet and is there a prize for constructing the longest sentence. Speak to you soon.

Has anyone else had the same problem as Vanda with the email links? Perhaps we can discuss it on Friday.

In the meantime, keep blogging and using the resources and links to other websites. It is great to see some comments being posted so if any of you haven’t been brave enough yet, please just have a go!!

hi for some reason i can now get on the blog from work now .As i struggle with computers I found last weeks session frustrating. In addition I have not been able to access the library with my student password which has delayed my search. I did assess my learning style using a questionaire compilied by Honey and Mumford [1989] and was suprised to find I am an activist ,my student is a reflector which has given us lots of opportunities to compare learning experiences
